Indoria seeks bail in SC
Shimla, May 13 Sleuths of the Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau have been trying to track the officer eversince the High Court cancelled the bail granted to him almost 10 days back. Teams of the bureau have been searching the officer in Delhi, Kullu and Kangra. With his bail application now being filed in the Supreme Court yesterday, it is certain that he is trying to evade arrest. “We too have learnt that Indoria has filed an application for bail in the Supreme Court yesterday but our search will still continue,” said Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) KC Sadyal. He added that tracking down a person in a place like Delhi was not easy but the Vigilance teams would still on the hunt. It was about five days back that two Vigilance teams were sent to Delhi, one to Kullu and another to Kangra to track down the officer. Police teams had already searched his ancestral village of Indora in Kangra immediately after his bail was cancelled by the High Court. Trouble for Indoria started after his name figured in alleged benefits taken by him from a hydropower company executing a project in Kulllu district. Indoria in his capacity as district police chief of Kullu had helped the company with regard to problems relating to law and order at the project site. Sources said the Vigilance sleuths, who had already questioned some officials of the power company, were looking for a diary of the officer, which had certain entries about the financial transactions. The Vigilance Bureau has already interrogated the owner of a photo studio in Kullu who was reportedly close to the police officer while he was the SP, Kullu. The bureau started probing the case on the basis of a telephonic conversation in which there was talk of alleged exchange of money. Even though the Vigilance Bureau was expecting that Indoria would surrender on his own after cancellation of his bail, he chose to evade arrest and seek a bail from the Supreme Court after High Court cancelled the bail granted to him.

Tickets not being sold in black, says Kings XI
Dharamsala, May 13 Col Arvinder Singh, COO of Kings XI Punjab, and HPCA spokesperson Sanjay Sharma, addressing a press conference at the Dharamsala cricket stadium today said the tickets were available only on payment at the authorised counters. The technology being used for sale of tickets like carbon paper made it impossible to sell tickets at higher rates. However, if somebody who had already bought the tickets and further selling these in black, its beyond their jurisdiction, he said. Col Arvinder was responding to charges levelled by senior Congress leader and MLA from Nagrota Bagwan GS Bali that the tickets were being sold in black at
Dharamsala. Col. Arvinder Singh also claimed that the information regarding the tickets that were unsold was available on the Internet and there was no scope for selling these in black. He also said the there was no provision for providing tickets on concession to students. The tickets in general stand-1 that were being sold at the rate of Rs 250 were open for every category. “However, on the request of Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal and HPCA president Anurag Thakur, we have decided to give Rs 100 concession to students coming with identity cards to the stadium venue. The refunding for students has already been started”, he said. When asked, Col Arvinder also admitted that there was some mismanagement on their part last year that left many ticket holders stranded outside the cricket stadium. However, this year they had taken all care that no ticket holder was harassed. The seating capacity of Dharamsala cricket stadium had been calculated at 19,779, he said. Meanwhile the Delhi Daredevils team that is going to play match with Kings XI Punjab on May 15 arrived today at
Dharamsala. On May 15, the IPL match will be inaugurated by Dhumal. The IPL organisers invited the Dalai Lama to inaugurate the second match scheduled at Dharamsala on May 17. However, the sources here told The Tribune that the Dalai Lama had declined the offering expressing regret. The district administration has created parking at police grounds, Dari ground and SAI stadium for the IPL matches. From the Dari ground that is about 5 kms from the cricket stadium, shuttle service has been started for carrying spectators to the stadium. |

Sangay in Dharamsala
Dharamsala, May 13 Sangay will be administered oath to the office of prime minister-in-exile on May 30. He, however, will assume office in August when the term of present Prime Minister Samdhong Rinpoche ends. Sangay, besides taking oath, is here to participate in the debate of Tibetan parliamentarians and other leaders, over the draft proposals framed by a committee of Tibetan parliamentarians for devolution of political and administrative authority of the Dalai Lama to the elected leadership. Though initially Tibetan Parliament had asked the Dalai Lama to reconsider his decision to retire, the septuagenarian Tibetan leader remained firm on his retirement. After the draft proposals for devolving the political and administrative authority of the Dalai Lama are discussed by the Tibetan luminaries, a special session of Tibetan parliament-in-exile will be convened at the end of May to pass resolutions. Sangay who arrived from the US, where he is a research fellow in law at Harvard University, first met the activists of Tibetan Youth Congress who have been sitting on fast in Delhi to protest against the alleged crackdown of Chinese forces at Kirti monastery in Tibet. While talking to mediapersons, Sangay expressed hope that dialogue process with China and representatives of the Dalai Lama would resume. The talks had been suspended by China after protests in Tibet just before the Beijing Olympics in 2008. He also reportedly endorsed the middle-way approach adopted by the Dalai Lama in which he had sought meaningful autonomy under Chinese sovereignty. As the retirement of the Dalai Lama is almost certain, the onus of gaining acceptability for Tibetan government-in-exile that is not even officially recognised by the Indian or any other government in the world will now be on new Prime Minister-in-exile Lobsang Sangay. Sangay, a former activist of the Tibetan Youth Congress, has already been dubbed as a terrorist by the Chinese authorities. Sangay is also likely to hold meeting with various Tibetan groups in the next few days, sources said. |

Shimla, May 13 In a statement, Janartha regretted that a misinformation campaign had been launched by some people who wanted to get political mileage out of the issue. “Factually wrong and misleading statements are being given by people who want political gains with an eye on the MC elections, due next year,” he remarked. He clarified that the MC had only undertaken a survey to get an exact idea about the number of residential and commercial properties within its limits. “Through another survey, we are trying to collect an exact picture about the properties and land owned by the MC so that we can raise commercial complexes and parking lots, thereby creating employment opportunities for all,” he stated. |
