7-yr-old murdered in broad daylight
Jalandhar, March 31 The deceased, identified as Sonu, is a son of a driver. His sister Nisha has been admitted to a hospital where she is struggling for life. According to sources, Rangi Lal was residing in a one-room rented accommodation in the locality with his wife, a domestic help, and his two kids. The children used to stay back at home as their parents were working, added sources. The murder came to light today afternoon, when at around 1:30 pm, one Arinde, who lives in a room adjacent to Rangi Lal’s accommodation, came back from work and noticed Sonu lying in a pool of blood. There were stab injuries all over his body. His sister Nisha, who was also stabbed in the abdomen, was lying nearby. Arinde raised an alarm and the police was informed. Nisha was shifted to the civil hospital, where her condition is stated to be critical. Top police authorities, including Gaurav Yadav, Commissioner of Police, Arun Pal Singh, ACP, Rajpal Singh Sandhu, ADCP (Crime), rushed to the crime site after receiving the information. A team of forensic experts and dog squad were also summoned. They were at the spot searching for clues till late evening. ACP (Crime) Rajpal Sandhu said that the attack seems to be a fallout of some personal enmity. “Robbery doesn’t look like the reason behind the attack. The brutality with which the boy has been killed and the girl stabbed clearly indicates the intention of revenge behind the attack,” he said. The police has also questioned the neighbours and some other close friends and relatives of Rangi Lal’s family, added Sandhu. However, the family has not raised suspicion on anybody. A case has been registered under Sections 302 and 307 of the Indian Penal Code against unidentified persons. The murder has shocked the city residents, who are worried over their safety. |
