Fake tickets flood market

Fake tickets! What if you came to know on the day of the semi-final match that the ticket you bought after paying huge money to black marketeers was “fake”. Bogus tickets for the semi-final clash are flooding the market and black-marketeers are reported to be having a field day selling these to crazy fans present around the stadium.

Red alert in Mohali after bomb hoax
Mohali, March 27
A red alert was sounded in the town after the Chandigarh police control room received a hoax call about a bomb at the Punjab Cricket Association stadium in the afternoon. The entire stadium was thoroughly searched by a bomb disposal squad of the Special Protection Group (SPG) and the Punjab police.

8 held for black marketeering
Chandigarh/Mohali, March 27
A day after the UT Police arrested a Sector 46 resident for selling a student ticket valued at Rs 250 at 100 times the cost for Rs 25,000, the police in Chandigarh and Mohali arrested a total of eight persons, including three students, for selling tickets originally valued at Rs 250 and Rs 500 for prices ranging from Rs 15,000 to Rs 25,000.

Residents of Sectors 50, 51 and 63 today took to streets demanding basic amenities in their sectors. “I want to return to theatre as it is not possible for me to work in films now in view of the long processing time on the making of motion pictures,” said eminent TV actress and theatre artiste Sulabha Deshpande here today.

Tribune employee dead
Chandigarh, March 27 Sunder Lal, Foreman, Rotary Section, The Tribune, died here yesterday after a brief illness. He was 58. He had joined The Tribune in 1970 at Ambala. He is survived by his wife, four sons and a daughter. Two of his sons — Surinder Kumar and Sunil Kumar are working in The Tribune.

300 checked at eye camp

About 300 patients were examined at a free eye check-up camp organised by the Residents Welfare Association at Sector 4-government dispensary here today. Two doctors of the General Hospital, Sector 6 — Dr VP Kakkar and Dr Neera Gupta — examined the patients.

14-year-old killed in accident

A driver and a conductor of a Punjab roadways bus were beaten up near Kharar tehsil complex around 8 pm. Driver Gurvinder Singh and conductor Paramjit Singh told the police that they had a tiff with a group of people at Kurali traffic lights.

A domestic help stabbed the son of his employer at their residence in Sector 18 here this morning. The police has arrested the accused, 18-year-old Sanjay Kumar, in a case of voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons under Section 324 of the IPC.

6-year-old girl found murdered

A six-year-old girl of Ghandauli village was found dead under mysterious circumstances in a seasonal rivulet near the village here this morning. There were marks of strangulation on the victim’s neck.
