Kin create ruckus outside nursing home

Following the death of a 40-year-old woman, her relatives created ruckus in front of a nursing home, alleging that she died due to doctor’s negligence. Relatives of the deceased, identified as Amarjeet Kaur, a resident of Sector 56, gathered outside the nursing home alleging that she died due to negligence of the owner of the nursing home, Dr PN Gupta.

Bansal seeks info on booth scam

At the receiving end of the magisterial probe conducted by former ADC PS Shergill for allegedly shielding the booth mafia in the city, Pawan Kumar Bansal, Minister of Parliamentary Affairs, Science and Technology and Earth, has officially sought report and other information regarding the booth allotment.

IRCTC website snag hits e-ticketing

Travellers have been unable to book e-tickets or i-tickets for trains to and from the city through the Indian Railway Catering & Tourism Corp (IRCTC) website for the past five days. The site posted a message saying bookings could not be made due to upgrade of the website in New Delhi and apologized to visitors for the inconvenience. However, the snag was rectified around 10 pm on Monday night.

HC sets aside CAT order

The Punjab and Haryana High Court has set aside the order of the Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT), Chandigarh, in the UT assistant sub-inspector recruitment case. The tribunal had directed to initiate a fact-finding inquiry by the UT Home Secretary.

Cantonment Board to decide on providing basic amenities

The court of civil judge Renu Rana today extended the stay on admission to 25 per cent of seats till April 1 for 2011-12 up to Class VII in private schools in Panchkula without complying with the Right to Education (RTE) norms framed by the Haryana government.

Full, half marathon on March 13

The Second Chandigarh Full, Half and Fun Marathon will be held on March 13 from the Rock Ground here. The participants will run with international athletes in the marathon ‘for the spirit of city and to take stand against corruption’.
