Court stays 25% admission quota in pvt schools
Panchkula, February 17
The court of civil judge Renu Rana today issued an interim order staying admissions to 25 per cent of seats for the coming academic session (2011-12) in classes 1 through 8 in privately run schools in Panchkula without complying with the Right to Education (RTE) norms framed by the Haryana government.

Contrary to Panjab University’s official stand, the ongoing problem at the University Business School (UBS) does not seem to be just a “teacher-student” dispute. For, students and the faculty today blamed political lobbies in the senate and the syndicate for the ongoing fiasco. A forthright UBS chairman, Dinesh Gupta (who resigned yesterday), created ripples when he said the students were not responsible for his resignation.

Disappearance of heritage items
Modeller booked
Chandigarh, February 17
Following a report by the UT administration into the disappearance of heritage items from Chandigarh, the police have booked former modeller Jaswinder Singh, a resident of Sector 27, in a case of criminal breach of trust under Section 409 of the IPC. A case has been registered at the Sector-3 police station.
