Traffic blocked:
The members of the Ravi Dass community blocked traffic at the national highway No. 10 near Sanjiv cinema road, today. They demanded construction of Ravi Dass Bhawan at the proposed site near Sanjit cinema. They lifted the dharna following assurance by local MLA Surjit Kumar Jyani. Jyani has also convened a meeting of the members of the Guru Ravi Dass community and civil administration and MC authorities on February 15 to resolve the issue.

Rath yatra
: Members of the Anti-Terrorist Front India would organise a rath yatra with a motto ‘Captain Amarinder Lao, Punjab Bachao’ from Fatehgarh Sahib on March 20. The first phase of the five-day-long yatra would conclude at the Jallianwala Bagh in Amritsar. Addressing a press conference here today, front president Viresh Shandilya said the rath yatra was a peace initiative highlighting issues like terrorism in the country and political terrorism in the state.

Medical camp
: Heart Beat Diagnostics and Didar Hospital, Gill Road, organised a free medical check-up camp here on Sunday. A total of 430 patients with heart diseases were examined.

School inaugurated
: Deputy Chief Minister Punjab Sukhbir Singh Badal inaugurated STS World Class School at Rajgomal here today. He said under the Punjab Government’s experiment, as many as 119 ‘adarsh’ schools would be operational by the next academic session.

Scooterist killed
: Iqbal Singh was killed when the scooter he was riding on rammed into an electric poll near Saprod today. Iqbal Singh was returning from Narur village after visiting a relative and going to Jalandhar when he met with the accident. The body was handed over to the family members of the deceased after postmortem.

Water supply to be hit: There will be no supply of water during the afternoon in the city for the next two days due to necessary repairs. Residents have been advised to store water for meeting their emergency needs for the next two days as there will be low water pressure on the evening of February 15 and the morning of February 16.

PCS officers: Two PCS officers, Saudagar Singh and Rahul Gupta, joined the Chandigarh Administration here today. Their postings were yet to be finalised. They replaced PS Shergill and MPS Randhawa, who had been repatriated to Punjab. —

Ambala
BSP leader  joins INLD
: Former general secretary of the state BSP Makhan Singh Labana, who had contested the Assembly elections on the BSP ticket from Ambala city, joined the INLD here on Monday in the presence of INLD supremo Om Prakash Chautala. Labana said he had joined the INLD just as a worker and not in the hope of any post in the party. “Whatever duty the party will assign him, he will do it with loyalty,” he added. Welcoming Labana into his party, Chautala said he would be given all respect in the party and asked him to wear a green turban instead of blue in future.

DC takes charge: Pankaj Aggarwal took over as the DC from Ajit Joshi, who has been transferred to Rewari as Deputy Commissioner. Joshi’s period of two years and eight months was the longest after PK Mahapatra in the past 39 years.

Army Chief likely to visit Udhampur
: The Chief of the Army Staff, Gen VK Singh, is likely to visit the Northern Command headquarters in Udhampur on Tuesday. Official sources told The Tribune that the Army Chief was likely to visit the Northern Command headquarters on Tueday morning to review the security scenario in the state. 

Srinagar
Skiing camp at Gulmarg :
A week-long skiing camp for boys and girls, organised by the Dagger Division of the Army, started at Gulmarg on Saturday. This is the second such camp organised by the division in the past one year. Fifteen boys and 15 girls are taking part in it. Events like trekking, sightseeing, a cultural evening, motivational lectures and competitions have been planned during the camp.
