12 students get jobs in IBM Daksh: IBM Daksh selected 12 students of R.R. Bawa DAV College for Girls during a recruitment fair organised in the college here today. The students, who were selected on the basis of three rounds of interview, were given a salary package of Rs 2 lakh per annum.

NCC Btn celebrates anniversary: 20 Punjab Battalion, NCC Bathinda,
celebrated 62nd anniversary on Saturday. Commanding officer Col. AR Varma
congratulated all the cadets, associated NCC officers, instructors and civilian
staff. To mark the day, the battalion organized a blood donation camp at
Barnala. A seminar on non-conventional energy sources, rally in Bathinda to
generate awareness on saving energy and a BKhana at Red Cross Bhavan were also
organised.

conference: The Scientific Committee of Cardiological Society of India
accepted to present Dr Vitull K Gupta’s research paper titled “To study
attitudes, beliefs, and perceptions regarding hypertension, its risk factors
and complications among patients of hypertension and general population” at
62nd Annual Conference to be held in Kolkata from December 2 to 5. Dr GPI
Singh, director principal of the Adesh Institute of Medical Sciences and
Research congratulated Gupta.

18 child labourers rescued in Ferozepur: As many as 18 children, working as labourers in various restaurants and other places, were rescued by different teams led by senior civil officials, during a weeklong camp, which concluded on Saturday. DC KK Yadav said teams that conducted raids across the Ferozepur district, were led by the sub-divisional magistrates
(SDMs). He said about 150 raids were conducted during the week. “Now, challans would be presented against those who have engaged children as labourers in the court so that they could be punished for violation of the Child Labour (Prohibition and Regulation Act),” he added.

256 cases settled: As many as 256 cases were disposed off amicably out of total 680 cases reported in quarterly lok adalat held at local court complex and in sub divisions of Dasuya, Mukerian and Garhshanakr today. According to District and Sessions Judge J S Khushdil, a sum of Rs 16.81 crore was awarded to the parties through settlement.
One held for rape: The police arrested Sukhwinder Singh of Chack Gujran under section 376 of the IPC last evening for raping a girl of his village. According to the police sources, a young girl of the village in her complaint to the police alleged that Sukhwinder Singh raped her on the pretext of marriage.

Ex-parliamentary secy cremated: Former parliamentary secretary Parkash Singh, died in New Delhi on Wednesday, was cremated at Sloh village today. A large number of people including representatives of different political, social and religious organisations attended the cremation.

Nagar kirtan: Hundreds of devotees took part in a nagar kirtan to mark the birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev here today. Various social and religious organisations served fruits, sweets and tea to the devotees. School students also took part in the procession.
Man kills self: Bishan Dass, a resident of Malikpur, allegedly committed suicide here today. He hanged himself from a ceiling fan at his residence in the night. According to the police, he was involved in a family land dispute and was under depression. A case has been registered at the Sadar police station.

Man’s body found: Mahinder Singh (55) of nearby Samrai village was found dead on the outskirts of
the village on Thursday night. His scooter was also found lying near his body. The body was later sent to the local civil hospital.
