Bathinda
Teachers training workshop today
: CBSE Schools Association of Bathinda zone, comprising CBSE and ICSE schools of five districts of Bathinda, Mansa, Faridkot, Ferozepur, and Muktsar is going to organise in association with Evergreen Publication (India) a teachers’ training workshop on November 13 from 10 am to 3 pm at Hotel Shagun, Barnala road, Bathinda.

Annual function: Blooming Buds School on Friday celebrated Children’s Day and annual function. Chakshu Jatana, Heena Goyal, Sumaira Gupta and Sanjan Singla won prizes in fancy dress while Heavenpreet, Shreya and Astha won prizes in modelling. Arvinder Kaur, principal, Silver Oaks School, Bathinda, gave away the prizes.

: A training camp was organised by the agriculture department at Dialpura village. Gurmeet Singh, department officer, presided over the camp. He apprised farmers of latest techniques of sowing seeds. He urged them to stop the practice of burning paddy stubble. DBW-17 wheat variety bags were distributed among farmers.

: An unidentified body of a man was recovered from a roadside near the canal police post on Thursday. The body of the man was shifted to the GMCH for post-mortem.

Book on Salim Ali launched
:Illustrated Edition of book on Dr Salim Ali, “The Fall of A Sparrow”, was launched today by Jameela Iyer, his grand niece, here today. The occasion coincided with the 114th birth anniversary of Dr Ali. In her brief address, Jameela Iyer recalled her experiences with Dr Ali. She said Dr Ali first book on birds was a subject of much interest for them as youngsters.
