Ambala, October 13 The alleged incident had taken place a few days ago. Manpreet’s Facebook friends stand by him
Patiala, October 13 Every few minutes a message flashes on Manpreet’s wall post on the social networking site on which he has an account with 4,035 friends. The contents of most of the messages show that people have been appreciative of his political actions during the past few days. Besides appreciating Manpreet for taking up the cudgels for improving things in the state, some of the messages on his Facebook page reflect the apparent venting of anger of his friends against Punjab deputy CM Sukhbir Badal. One of them, Rupinder Singh Bawa, wrote: “Manpreet ji hope this setback (maybe it’s a blessing in disguise) doesn’t dissuade you from doing the great work you’re doing. We need people like you in politics, not politicians in the garb of private entrepreneurs.” Another comment by Anmohar Singh Chauhan reads: “You proved yourself to be a real 'son of the soil', a true and brave Punjabi - keep it up!” Extending “moral support” to Manpreet, another Facebook friend, Jaspal Bajwa, wrote: “Manpreet ji never lose your confidence please. Keep it up! All people of ‘youngistan’ are with u, it’s not a party decision but Sukhbir’s decision.” Notably, Manpreet is well connected on Facebook with not only politicians but also people from all walks of life. Though support for him on his Facebook page began pouring in on the day the debt waiver issue hit the headlines, his page seems to have been virtually flooded with the messages after the announcement he had been dropped from the state cabinet. After a thorough perusal of the messages it came to light that people were supporting the arguments put forward by him with respect to the debt waiver issue. “Manpreet, such things come in the way. A man with a vision is always criticised by people who don't have such a level of thinking”, wrote Dharminder Singh on Facebook, after getting to know that Manpreet had been dropped from the cabinet. Another Facebook friend, Bhupinder Singh, posted a message that reads: “We are and always have been with you. You should quit the Akali Dal and form a new party in which you can have like-minded people who want to do good for the state.” |
