Passing out parade:
Director of MRS, Punjab Police Academy, Phillaur, Rohit Chaudhary, took a march past salute from 405 newly trained security guards, including 103 girls of 9th security training course, during a passing out parade at the Police Recruits Training Centre, Jahan Khelan, 8 km from here. Chaudhary claimed that all the security guards who had obtained training from the Punjab Security Training Institute, PRTC, Jahan Khelan, got jobs.

Sangat darshan
: With a view to provide hassle-free delivery of services of various departments at the doorstep of the people of the district, Deputy Commissioner Shruti Singh has started organising sangat darshan programmes at the block and nagar council levels. A programme was organised at the Baba Gola Government Girls Senior Secondary School, Banga, on Thursday. Shruti directed the officials concerned present there to take immediate action for addressing the problem. Out of 20 problems, the DC settled seven on the spot.

Phagwara
Protest over water, sewage stagnation
: Residents of Mohalla Prempura and Malikpur village demonstrated against the Nagar Council and Block Development Office in protest against stagnation of rain water and sewage due to blockage and lack of the disposal arrangements. Residents of Prempura blocked vehicular traffic first in local Hargobind Nagar, then on the national highway today. Protesters were demanding immediate steps to solve the problem.

Exhibition of photos of freedom fighters:
An exhibition of photographs of freedom fighters from the state in general and Fatehabad district in particular by the Archive Department evoked a good response here recently. Deputy Commissioner Vijay Singh Dahiya inaugurated the exhibition in the local Panchayat Bhawan on Thursday. Portraits of several known personalities, who fought for the independence of the country, were displayed during the exhibition. He said the state had the honour of having several freedom fighters like Rao Tula Ram from its land. RK Srivastva, Joint Director of the Archive Department, said the department would soon set up a photo gallery of freedom fighters belonging to the district in the local mini-secretariat.
