HC intervention sought on unlawful possession by riot victims

Even as a tug of war is on between the district administration and victims of anti-Sikh riots of 1984 for the allotment of residential flats in CRPF Colony in
Dugri, allottees of the government flats in the colony have sought the intervention of the Punjab and Haryana High Court to ensure that these government flats are allotted strictly as per rules, and further to stop unlawful possession of the flats
by certain families of riot victims.

Jail inmate was pregnant: Inquiry

A fortnight after a woman, Balwinder Kaur, who is undergoing a jail term in an attempt to murder case, delivered a dead baby girl and doctors of the Civil Hospital denied that she was pregnant, the board of doctors constituted to look into the matter said she was carrying a 32-34-week baby and the doctors were not able to establish that.
Snatchers caught on camera

Snatchers, who snatched a gold chain of a septuagenarian woman on the Lumba street near the Police Lines a few days ago, were caught on camera.
According to ACP Raj Kumar, Rajesh Jain provided them CCTV footages.
Rape charge against tehsildar

A 23-year-old woman from Barnala has levelled allegations of rape and abduction against a tehsildar posted in
Barnala. She alleged that she was raped many times before being thrown out of a moving vehicle on the Gill road here today.
Toy train set to chug again in Rakh Bagh

Hopes for the toy train in the city’s Rakh Bagh to be fully operational have once again been revived. It has been years since children playing in the park last saw the train running. Apart from the broken rail tracks and the nonfunctional engine the rest of the park is also in a shambles.

Two brothers set afire over land dispute
