Gang of vehicle thieves busted, 3 held: Dr Narinder Bhargav, SSP, in a press note issued here today, said the Banga police busted a gang of vehicle thieves by arresting its three members, identified as Harkamal Singh, Ramandeep, alias Ramu, and Rajiv Kumar, alias Raju, residents of Banga, and recovered three stolen motorcycles and two country-made .12-bore pistols and live cartridges from them. A case under Section 379 of the IPC was registered.

Computer training programme: A week-long computer training programme for grandparents was organised by Bhavan Vidyalaya, Chandigarh. Grandparents were taught the basics of computer. Chairman of the school Saboo and secretary PR Aggarwal were present on the occasion.

Hamirpur
23 fined for smoking: The district police has launched a special drive against smoking at public places to make the district smoking-free. Hamirpur SP Kuldeep Sharma said the police had challaned 23 persons under different police stations of the district under Section 21 of the Anti-Tobacco Act and fined them Rs 3,350. The SP also directed all police stations not to allow smoking at public places, especially near educational institutions.

DEHRADUN

Chamoli district SP transferred:Superintendent of Police (SP) of Chamoli district Vimmi Sachdeva has been transferred to the Indian Reserve Battalion (IRB), Ramnagar. Commandant Anant Ram Chauhan was posted as the new SP of Chamoli district. Also, ASP, AS Nagnyal, who was posted at the Police Headquarters, has been made the Commandant of the IRB, a press statement from the administration said.
