Rs 11 crore disbursed to farmers in Loan Mela: The State Bank of Patiala (SBoP) organised a Kisan Loan Mela at Sadiq (Faridkot) on Wednesday. Loans worth Rs 11 crores were disbursed to 320 farmers. The farmers were apprised of various agriculture and other allied schemes on the occasion. Over 800 farmers attended the loan mela. The mela was inaugurated by Rajesh Gupta, Deputy General Manager, Bathinda zone. Assistant General Manager SK Bhalla, Assistant General Manager, interacted with the farmers for availing credit facilities from the bank. He exhorted the famers to take benefit of the credit facilities.Fazilka
Central School inaugurated: BSF commandant SPS Sandhu inaugurated the maiden Kendriya Vidyalaya (Central School) of Fazilka at the BSF Campus Rampura on the Abohar road here on Thursday. Chairman of the school, commandant of the 51 Battalion, BSF, GL Meena and other dignitaries from the Army and civil administration were present on the occasion. The BSF was making efforts to open a Central school at Fazilka since long as their wards had to go to Abohar or Jalalabad for education in the Central schools there.

Neem saplings planted: As many as 110 neem saplings were planted by social activists, led by Dr Anil Vinayak, at Hadiabad in Phagwara today. The saplings were planted on both sides of the Phagwara- Nakodar road near a school and gurdwara, said Dr
Vinayak.
Judicial remand: Jasbir Singh and Buta Singh, who were arrested for attacking a police party and attempting to murder ASI Raman Deep Singh, were sent to the 14-day judicial remand. They were arrested at Gandhi Chowk on Tuesday night.

Poppy husk seized: The police seized 416 kg of poppy husk kept in 26 bags near Mohalla Kaulsar yesterday. The police got information that one Kurra Ram of nearby Lakhanpal village and his other unidentified accomplices were planning to sell the husk near the locality. The police raided the place, but Kurra Ram managed to escape leaving the poppy husk behind.

House burgled: A house of Nirmala Devi was burgled on Akalpur road here last night. The burglars locked the bedroom of the woman from outside, before leaving the house along with stolen items worth more than Rs 10 lakhs, including 50 tolas of gold ornaments and Rs 55,000 in cash, the police said. Police has registered a case. Meanwhile, the Goraya police arrested a woman identified as Balbir Kaur and recovered five kg of puppy husk from her possession last night.
Worship place inundated: Water of the Sutlej entered renowned worship place “Shani Gaon” near Phillaur yesterday. Devotees had to drain out water stagnated in the premises using a pump.
