Vehicular movement on the city’s streets, which is already beset with poor management and slack regulation, was further disrupted following the heavy rain that lashed the region today for over 12 hours.

From today onwards, entry tax will also be levied on seven new items. Most of the traders, ignorant of the fact, were taken aback when their goods were stopped at the barrier. However, the confusion prevails over the entry tax levied on the milk to be used for manufacturing taxable goods.

Students’ home at Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) is in a state of neglect, as the university authorities have failed to complete the renovation of the building even after one year.The lawns outside the students home is unkempt and even the wooden benches are broken.

Girls of Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines, have once again done their teachers and parents proud by getting top positions in university result. In MSc (IT), result of which was declared by Panjab University, Shilpa Jindal and Shivani Sareen have jointly stood first in the university. Out of the 30 students, who appeared for examination, 18 have scored more than 70 per cent marks in aggregate.

Rs 15,000 fine slapped on Air India

The Permanent Lok Adalat has ordered Air India Tourists, Barakhamba road, New Delhi, to pay Rs 15,000 to a complainant for its deficient services.The chairman of the Lok Adalat Sukhdarshan Singh Khaira, members RS Khokhar, Nand Lal pronounced the order while deciding the complaint moved by Santosh Rani Sharma, resident of Mohalla, Gillanwala, Nabha.

The Dehlon police has arrested two members of a notorious gang involved in snatching of vehicles at gunpoint. The gang members confessed to have killed two persons who had tried to resist their attempt to rob them.
