All India media conference to begin on Sept 17Our Correspondent:
Over 2000 print, electronic and cyber media professionals from India and overseas are expected to participate in the All India Media Conference-2010. The conference is scheduled to be held in Shantivan at Abu Road from September 17-20, said BK Gangadhar, joint editor of Om Shanti Media, fortnightly news magazine of Mount Abu-based Brahmakumaris organisation.

Scholarship to mark martyr’s memoryOur Correspondent:
On the 101st martyrdom day of martyr Madan Lal Dhingra today, the members of Shaheed Madan Lal Dhingra Smarak Samiti, Fazilka, announced to set up ‘Madan Lal Dhingra Scholarship Scheme.’ Taking the lead, member of the Samiti, Ashok Kumar Monga, a lecturer, announced to offer scholarships to five needy  brilliant students throughout his life.

Dental check-up camp:
A free dental check-up camp was held at the school campus on Tuesday at the RSD Raj Rattan Public School in Ferozepur, by the Indian Dental Association, Ferozepur range. The camp comprised president Dr Yash Khunger and secretary Dr Munish Chopra besides Dr Saroj Chawla and Dr Nitin Bajaj. Nearly 500 children were examined. School principal Usha Kiran thanked the doctors. Director, RSD College Trust and Management Society, SP Anand was present on the occasion.

Machine tool makers’ meet:
A meeting of the Machine Tool Cluster was held here today. SS Dhillon, director, Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME), apprised the members about various schemes and policies of the ministry of the MSME. He said most industries were not able to take advantage of the schemes due to lack of knowledge. He emphasised upon the need for cluster development launched by the ministry of MSME. A directory of the Punjab Machine Tool Manufacturers was also launched. 

Nawanshahr
Placement camp
: Tata Consultancy Services held a two-day mega placement camp at the Doab Group of Colleges, situated on the Nawanshahr-Chandigarh highway here. More than 12,000 B.Tech/ M.Tech/ MCA/M.Sc passouts got themselves registered for the placement camp, but only 5,000 were issued hall tickets by the TCS. More than 100 candidates were selected.

: The Haryana government has appointed former IAS officer HS Rana as the State Police Complaint Authority with immediate effect for a period of three years. The authority shall devise his own rules for the conduct of his business and inquire into allegations of serious misconduct against police personnel either suo motu or on a complaint received from a victim or any person on his behalf.

Provider of SIM cards to ultras held
: With the arrest of Mohammad Shafi, the Kishtwar police has unearthed a nexus between militants and their sympathisers, who had been arranging SIM cards for the ultras operating in the district. After taking SIM cards on their own names or in the names of naive and gullible people, these sympathisers had been providing them to the militants.

Srinagar
Army Chief visits forward areas
: The Chief of the Army Staff, Gen V K Singh, who visited the forward areas, ended his two-day visit to the state on Tuesday. Accompanied by the GOC-in-C of the Northern Command and the GOC, 15 Corps, the Army Chief interacted with troops deployed along the Line of Control, according to a defence spokesman.
