MOHALI
Representation submitted
: Dr Daler Multani, president of the Shelter Charitable Trust and Clean and Green Campaign, in a representation to the president of the Mohali District Planning Board has stated that the proposal to widen road from Balongi to Phase VIII bus stand would result in damage to green cover. The green cover along the roads was acting as green lungs for the residential sectors. The Greater Mohali Area Development Authority (GMADA) was spending crores of rupees on removing the high-tension wire to allow widening of the road. Since GMADA is already laying 200-ft wide road from Chatt village up to Desu Majra at Kharar, there was no need to widen the road from Balongi to Phase VIII bus stand. The bus stand was also being shifted out.
