Attar Singh
Tribune News Service

Ambala, June 17
A choked drain at the entrance of Hari Nagar has become a nuisance for residents of twelve colonies in the vicinity.

The drain has hardly any water flow, as polythene remains and garbage have choked it. The stink from the choked drain has made life miserable for residents here. Residents have been suffering from spilled over open drains, garbage dumps and broken roads.

HK Sharma and Vijay Jain, residents of Laxmi Nagar, today said the spilled over filthy water comes out on streets making life hell for residents and shopkeepers.

According to sources, no Municipal Class-IV safai karamchari has come to clean the drain or roads. As the summer season is at its peak, mosquito breading in the choked drain and
foul smell is becoming unbearable.

“We need permanent solution to the problem. The inhabitants should also become responsible citizens by not throwing garbage and polythene bags in the open,” they added. Though several congested inner lanes are cemented, a number of roads needed urgent repair due to potholes on the roads.

Authorities should give attention to this area, as it connects various parts of the city.

The hanging electricity wires at some parts of the colonies are other major problems being faced by the residents, which could lead to any major mishap in the area, they alleged.

Authorities don’t bother to provide genuine facilities to people, said Hukam Chand, a resident of Hari Nagar.
