Admission forms available online: Panjab University’s main admission notice for the year 2010-11, including admission form and handbook of information (HBI), are available on the university’s website puchd.ac.in. To get information on the website, students have to go to the column- admission examination, which will provide full text of the handbook of information and detailed information regarding admission to various courses, number of seats and fee structure. The last date for the submission of admission forms for all courses except certificate and diploma courses is July 6, 2010, while the deadline for certificate and diploma courses is May 22, 2010.
Inauguration today: The web portal www.pubcomadmissions.com specially designed for online admission to BCom Part I for the session 2010-2011 will be inaugurated on May 29 at Panjab University. The admission to BCom in PU-affiliated colleges will be centralised from the current session and students will be required to fill a common form for Rs 120.

Cop assaulted: Davinder Singh, a Chaju Majra resident, has been booked for allegedly manhandling a constable of the Mohai police, Sukhwinder Kumar. The constable complained that on May 26 he had got a message that Davinder Singh was abusing the manager of a hotel at Phase I, here. On reaching the spot, the accused misbehaved with the constable and tore off his uniform. A case under Sections 353 and 186 of the IPC has been registered at the Phase I police station. Purse snatched: Two unidentified motorcycle-borne youths snatched the purse of an elderly woman, Dilmohan
Kaur, at Phase III-B1 here on Friday. The victim was returning home after paying obeisance at Phase III-B2
gurdwara. The purse contained Rs 1,500 cash and two mobile phones. A complaint has been lodged at the Matour police station. 60 illegal rehris removed: Employees of the tehbazari wing of local municipal council removed around 60 illegal rehris selling fish and meat from Phase VI here on Friday. Residents of the area had to face a harrowing time due to the illegal market that had come up along the main road. Last week the MC officials were attacked by some migrants when they tried to remove the illegal market, therefore, the employees had come fully prepared this time. The drive went on smoothly. — OC

Insecticide-maker fined: The court slapped a fine of Rs 10,000 on M/s Vishal Seeds Company, Ambala
Cantt, a distributor of insecticides, and its manufacturing company Wintech Chemicals Limited,
Hyderabad, under Section 29 (Rule 1968) for which the samples collected by the agriculture department were found ‘not up to the mark’. Deputy director Satyaveer Sharma said the samples sent to the RPTL laboratory,
Faridabad, failed and the insecticides, which were sent for testing, found spurious. In this connection a case had already been registered against the manufacturer and their local distributor.

4 taken ill after consuming milk: Four persons were taken ill after consuming milk in the Ashok Nagar area, near the old DSP Road. Victims Suresh
Bhatti, Mamta, Dinesh and Saroj consumed milk before going to sleep on Thursday night. They were found unconscious on Friday morning. They were rushed to the local general hospital, where their condition is stated to be stable.

MDS counselling today: The counselling for filling the Masters in Dental Surgery (MDS) seats in private dental colleges of the state will be held at SBS Sr Secondary School, Railway Road, Karnal, on May 29.
