Cracking cyber crime not cops’ forte

The Chandigarh police is pathetically handicapped in dealing with the burgeoning cyber crime in the city. The cyber crime investigation cell (CCIC) of the Chandigarh police, set up in May 2007, has no expert or specially trained police officer to deal with the new-age crime scenario.
Disabled employee can’t be deprived of benefits: HC

The Punjab and Haryana High Court has ruled an employee, suffering from disability during service, cannot be deprived of benefits otherwise available to him. Efforts have to be made to adjust him on post carrying equal pay scale, if shifted.

Irritated over the dilly-dallying of the Mohali district administration in taking action against those who have levelled the eco-fragile Shivalik Hills in Chandigarh’s periphery to carve out roads, residents of the Bhagindi, Gurdha, Kasauli, Jyanti Majri and Karaundewala villages today staged a sit-in and blocked the road in front of the office of the district Deputy Commissioner here today.

Two water samples fail test

The outbreak of typhoid in Lohgarh village here has been traced to contaminated sources of drinking water being supplied by the Public Health Department in the area. Two of the five water samples collected from the area had failed the tests.
