Armed youths rob sarpanch of Rs 29 lakh
Ludhiana, May 13
The car of the sarpanch in which he was robbed near Ludhiana In a daring daylight robbery, three heavily armed youths today chased a man in a car, opened fire at him and forcibly took away Rs 29 lakh he was carrying near the Bajra road, 10 km from the city.

It was a pitched battle of one-upmanship between the Congress, led by Ludhiana MP and national spokesperson of the All-India Congress Committee, and the Shiromani Akali Dal under the leadership of Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Badal right from this morning as the ATR 42 aircraft of Air India was about to touch down on its first scheduled commercial flight from New Delhi to Ludhiana at 12.15 pm today.

Erratic power schedules may cost consumers dear
Ludhiana, May 13
Industrial electricity consumers may have to pay a heavy price on account of bureaucratic mismanagement in the Punjab State Power Corp (PSPC). During the past week the corporation has thrice changed the schedule of power cuts and weekly offs for saving electricity. Consumers will be charged Rs 100 per kilowatt, to be added in their monthly bills, if they do not comply with the new regulations.
