Kalia ‘meets’ press after a long time

Jalandhar, May 7
When Local Bodies Minister Manorajan Kalia announced the setting up of the second world-class stadium in Punjab it marked the end of his long hiatus from the public glare.

So it came as a pleasant surprise when the invitations of a press conference were received in newspaper offices today. While the timing of the event was a topic of hot debate among journalists at the venue, it was also an occasion to make sly comments on the functioning of the government. Nevertheless, it was a “vintage” Kalia who fielded such queries with aplomb and repeatedly asked those asking some piercing questions to be positive and look at the brighter side of things.

He also kept the line of questioning on track and urged the reporters to confine their queries to the prestigious project at hand. — TNS
