Twins trouble at PGI

After having being told by gynaecologists at Government Multi-Speciality Hospital (GMSH), Sector 16, that she was carrying twins, 30-year-old Babita of Sanjay Labour Colony, Industrial Area, Phase I, and her family were all excited when she was taken to the labour room at the PGI for her delivery this morning. But they were all in for a shock when they were later informed that she had delivered only one girlchild.

Lajpat Rai Khosla, Reviser, The Tribune, died here today after suffering a heart attack. He was 53. He had joined The Tribune as a copy holder in 1979. He is survived by wife and two sons. His cremation will take place today (Wednesday) at 11 a.m. at the Manimajra cremation ground. — TNS

Innovative and peppy radio jingles produced by students from 14 schools of the tricity will now be “on air” across the country from March 25 onwards for creating awareness on consequences of polluting the Yamuna.

Hinting at the poor reaction to the new trend of online management exams in the country on the lines of GMAT and GRE exams, vital statistics revealed that out of 90,000 candidates who appeared in the online Management Aptitude Test (MAT) in September 2009, only 6,000 students preferred to give the test online.

Two persons were killed in two separate road accidents on the Ambala-Hissar road near Ambala City today.

Three held for ‘kidnap’ bid
Patiala, March 23
Three persons were apprehended by members of the Shiv Sena (Bal Thackeray) for allegedly trying to abduct a five-year-old child in the guise of “sadhu” at Kali Devi Temple here today. The three were later handed over to the police.

Cleanliness drive to mark Martyrdom Day
Fatehgarh Sahib, March 23
Students of Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Engineering College launched a cleanliness drive on the college campus to observe the Martyrdom Day of Bhagat Singh Rajguru and Sukhdev. The drive was organised by students of Kartar Singh Sarabha Welfare Society. The students took the onus of cleaning up the campus. ‘The Legend of Bhagat Singh’, a Hindi movie, was also screened for students.
