Shifting of NIS post office irks employees
Patiala, March 22 When a team of post officers reached the NIS on Thursday evening for shifting the office materials to the Ragho Majra post office, members of the NIS Employees Association blocked their way and did not allow them to take the material out of its premises. Blaming the officers, association president Kirat Singh said their delegation had visited the head office in Chandigarh and were assured that this problem would be resolved soon once Executive Director of the NIS L.S. Ranawat, who was out of city, would be back? Our delegates had not even returned and these officers started shifting the post office. They had not even taken a gate pass from the institute. He said:”This post office has been a part of the institute for 40 long years now and its shifting will affect the entire system. Moreover, other state players who visit the institute for the practise session here and this post office is often used by them for the delivery of their letters and other sports-related goods. At this crucial time when the Commonwealth Games are on almost upon us, the closure of the post office is highly unacceptable? “Many students of the institute have an account with this post office and shifting the post office will increase their problems,” added an officer. Kirat Singh informed that they had lodged a complaint with Assistant Post Officer Shashi Bala yesterday, as a result of which the team had returned only to appear the next day. |
