Sister (right) of Rajnish Patel, who was killed in an accident, is inconsolable in Ludhiana on Saturday. Rajinder Verma and Rajnish Patel, Class X students, were crushed to death under an MC truck here today. Rajinder Verma (17) died on the spot while Rajnish Patel (15) was taken to the CMCH.

Blood bank runs without licence

22 students caught copying; erring teachers shifted

A fire broke out at the VIP parking of the municipal corporation office here today. Though no major loss has been reported, the entire shed of the parking was burnt down. Amarjeet Sharma, fire station officer, told the TNS that the fire broke out at 1.05 pm and three fire tenders were sent to the scene to control the blaze. “It took around 25 minutes to quell the flames.

White paper sought on funds for Dalits, workers

The Punjab government should issue a white paper on the funds allotted and spent for the betterment of the Dalits, labourers and small farmers in the state. This was stated by Bahujan Samaj Morcha chief Satnam Singh Kainth while talking to mediapersons at the grain market here.

Jawan cremated with military honours

A jawan who died after suffering a fall while on duty was cremated at Kalsian village with military honours here today. Dharam Singh (47) had been with Defence Security Corps (DSC) for the past seven years and posted at Pithoragarh, Uttaranchal.

The local police today expressed apprehension about involvement of a few more persons in the Prabhdeep Singh murder case, in a local court, when it produced prime accused Gurvinder Singh of Dugri after completion of his police remand.

Robbery at wholesaler’s shop
Mullanpur Dakha, March 13
A few unidentified miscreants committed a theft at a vegetable shop and decamped with vegetables, furniture and other materials. Brij Bhushan, the victim, stated that he was running a wholesale vegetable business from the rented shop owned by Renuka Sekhon. He along with six other tenants was in litigation with her over the forcible eviction and got an order passed in their favour.
