Forest staff stage dharna:
Activists of the forest department field workers union, Punjab, staged a statewide dharna outside the divisional forest office here on Tuesday and held a march through the city roads before submitting a memorandum listing their demands to the district administration. 

‘Revise seniority list’: Members of the district unit of the SC/BC Teachers’ Union, led by district president Swaranjit Singh, on Tuesday submitted a memorandum to the district education officer (Secondary) seeking revision of the seniority list of lecturers. Union’s district press secretary Mohinder Pal said due to non-revision of the list, many senior lecturers could not be promoted as principal.

22kg of poppy husk seized: The local police arrested Harshvardhan, a resident of Biru Ashram road, Basti Zhugia near Jafli ganj, UP.
The police alleged that a police team laid a naka near Alipur village. The police team stopped the accused, who was carrying a white bag on the carrier of his cycle. On checking, 22 kg poppy husk was recovered from the white bag, which was in his possession. A case under the NDPS Act has been registered and investigations have begun.

Brothers buried alive
: Anil (24) and Sunil (21) of Ram Nagar here were buried alive under a heap of mud at a private construction site near Geeta Bhawan Chowk on Tuesday. They were taken to the Civil Hospital, but doctors there declared them “brought dead.” On the complaint of the victims’ family , the police has registered a case against the owners Lalit Batra, Pawan Batra and Satya Narain Atri, who have reportedly fled..DSP RS Yadav said a police team had been deputed to arrest them.

Mission to distribute plants on Holi
:Like every year, Mission True Biologist will celebrate the festival of Holi by distributing plants this year too. The mission has been running this drive of distributing plants for seven years to conserve the ecological and environmental heritage.
The plants of tesu, harsringar, arjun, raktchandan, shwet chandan, semal, etc, will be distributed.

Beheading incident flayed : The Sikh community here has expressed anger over the beheading of the two Sikhs by Taliban terrorists in Pakistan. Condemning the incident Gurdwara Sri Guru Singh Sabha president Rajender Singh Rajan exhorted the PM of India to give full attention to the minority community. A letter in this regard was sent to Punjab CM Parkash Singh Badal.

Kumaon region rocked :
The Kumaon region was rocked by an earthquake last night. According to official sources, the tremors were of mild intensity and measured 4.7 on the Richter scale. The tremors were felt across the region at 22.54 pm and had their epicentre in Bageshwar district.
No loss of life or property has been reported from anywhere across the Kumaon region.
