Postponement of NRI Sabha poll flayed
: Indian Overseas Congress members have condemned the indefinite postponement of elections to the Non-Resident Indians (NRI) Sabha by the SAD-BJP government scheduled to be held on February 14. Describing it as a politically motivated move, IOC members, who have arrived in India to participate in the poll, said it had been put off “citing poor law and order in the state”, but the actual motive was an impending defeat of SAD-BJP activists in the poll.

Killed
: A youth was killed on Monday after the motorcycle (PB-25-B-0644) he was riding hit a tractor-trolley on Galib road in Killi Chahal village. The deceased has been identified as Parminder Singh. A case has been registered under Sections 304-A and 427 of the IPC. 

Liquor seized: The Ludhiana Rural police on Tuesday recovered 42 bottles of country-made liquor. The police recovered 15,930 ml of liquor at Gure village and arrested Nand Vaddu of Jagraon. In another incident, the police nabbed Jon Singh and Manjit Singh from Chowkiman village. The duo was carrying 21 bottles of illicit liquor. 

Culpable homicide: The Sidhwan Bet police on Tuesday booked some unidentified persons for culpable homicide, not amounting to murder. An alcoholic, Sukhdev Singh, was found dead under mysterious circumstances from the room near a tubewell by Jasbir Singh of Slempura village near Sidhwan Bet. On February 6, when he visited the spot, he found the lock of the door broken and the body of Sukhdev Singh lying in the room. The police has registered a case under Section 304 against unidentified persons.

Jalandhar
NRI Sabha poll postponed
:Comissioner, Jalandhar Division-cum-Chairman NRI Sabha SR Ladhar today announced that due to the prevailing tension in the law and order situation, election of NRI Sabha is being postponed till further announcement. Earlier the election was scheduled to be held on February 14. 

Blood donation camp:To mark the beginning of its Silver Jubilee celebrations, the thirteenth battalion of the Sikh regiment participated in a blood donation camp at Jalandhar cantt today. The commanding officer of the battalion, along with all officers and jawans participated in the camp. A total of 180 units of blood was donated during the camp. The blood donation camp was organised under the aegis of the Red Cross Society, Jalandhar.

Farewell party
:Sacred Heart Convent Senior Secondary School, Khanna, organised a farewell party for its Class VIII students yesterday.Arrays of colourful cultural programmes were organised for the class. While Priyanka Bharadwaj was selected as Miss Sacred Heart School, Ashok Kumar Sablok was selected Master Sacred Heart School. The students were given gifts and mementoes.
