Blood infusion alarm invented
Jammu, January 10 The girls have created a model, ‘Infusion Alarm’, under the guidance of their chemistry teacher Ajit Babu. Demonstrating it, they said the device was not only economical and easy to handle, but was also significant as it could be useful in health centres. Infusion Alarm is a user-friendly device and consists of an alarm and a spring balance. The two ends of this alarm are made as two terminals. One of these two terminals is connected to the metallic part of the spring balance (A), while the other terminal is connected to metallic wire (B). The spring balance has two slot-sheets attached to it, which correspond to the corresponding volume of the bottle. During blood infusion, a bottle is suspended from the hook of the spring balance. The metallic wire is then inserted into the suitable slot where the user (attendant or patient) wants to raise an alarm. As the volume starts decreasing, the level of terminal (A) rises and at a particular time the terminal (A) meets the terminal (B) with the result a current flows in the circuit and alarm starts functioning. So the attendant or patient can check the drip set or remaining volume of the fluid. |
