PM: Future talks should be based on Kyoto Protocol
Copenhagen, December 18
With no signs of a possible deal at the Climate Summit here, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today made it clear that future negotiations on tackling the menace should be based on equitable burden sharing as enshrined in Kyoto Protocol and Bali mandate.

Mamata trashes Lalu’s claims on Rlys ‘turnaround’
New Delhi, December 18
Keeping her long-standing promise, Railways Minister Mamata Banerjee today presented in Parliament her much-anticipated ‘White Paper on Indian Railways’, refuting the tall claims of a ‘turnaround’ by her predecessor and RJD supremo Lalu Prasad during his five-year stewardship of the ministry.

Ministers can air travel with innumerable companions
New Delhi, December 18
On the 48 single free air journeys that the ministers are entitled to anywhere in the country in a year, they can now carry along any number of companions or relatives, even illegitimate or stepchildren, either residing with them or wholly dependent on them.

‘Came to Mumbai to work in films’
Mumbai, December 18
Mohammed Ajmal Amir alias Kasab - the lone terrorist caught alive after last year’s Mumbai terror attacks - today made a complete retraction of the confession of his participation in the carnage. All smiles and showing no signs of nervousness, Kasab told the court that he was not a terrorist and had come to Mumbai to act in films.Adding a touch of drama, he claimed terror suspect and Pakistan-American David Coleman Headley had met him in the company of FBI officials.

30,000 troops withdrawn from J&K: Antony
New Delhi, December 18
Defence Minister AK Antony today said if situation permitted, India was willing to further reduce the presence of Armed Forces in Jammu and Kashmir where 30,000 troops have been withdrawn in the past two years. He also made it clear that the much criticised Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) - which is in place in Jammu & Kashmir and the North East - will not be withdrawn.
