ETT meeting:
ETT teachers on Tuesday hold a meeting presided by Jagseer Singh Sahota. During the meeting details regarding preparations for the forthcoming mass protest in Amritsar on November 14 were sought. The teachers decided to raise the issue of implementing the new pay grade during the protest in Amritsar. Teachers also requested everyone to gather at Amristar in large numbers. 

2 booked for illegal lottery: Kotwali police booked two persons for allegedly running illegal lottery trade at Satta market, here on Tuesday. SHO Kotwali, GS Romana said police nabbed the employee of the shop but after ascertaining some details, he was allowed to leave with a condition to join the investigation, when needed. However, the main accused Babbu was still at large.

Education panel:
The state government will soon set up an education and knowledge commission to make quality education accessible to the people across the state. An assurance to this effect was given by CM Parkash Singh Badal to an ABVP delegation on Tuesday. Responding to their demands regarding the implementation of a uniform fee structure in all universities of the state and to conduct elections of the students’ council, the CM assured the delegation that he would soon convene a meeting of all Vice- Chancellors of universities to resolve these issues. 

Punjab Day: The Punjab Day will be celebrated on November 25 at the 29th India International Trade Fair (IITF) being organised at Pragati Maidan in New Delhi from November 14 to 27. Disclosing this here on Tuesday, Industry and Commerce Minister Manoranjan Kalia said the theme of the fair was ‘Export of services.

Interview for ADAs:
The District Bar Association here on Monday demanded withholding interview for the selection of assistant district attorneys (ADAs) for the district to be held on November 11. A meeting of the Bar Association, which was presided over by secretary Gurjeet Singh Gill, in a resolution alleged that wards of a District and Session Judge and District Attorney had applied for the advertised posts for which selection is to be done on contractual basis. The Bar members also alleged that the officials concerned have obtained false experience certificate. As many as 50 members signed on the resolution that was sent to the Chief Justice of the Punjab and Haryana High Court and other officials concerned.

Inspector held:
Sukhbir, Inspector, Food and Supplies, was caught red-handed by a team of the Vigilance Department from Rohtak while accepting a bribe of Rs 5,000 from a ration depot-holder, Amardeep of Deepalpur village, in his office here on Monday. A case has been registered.

Science quiz: Suneel Kumar, principal of Saraswati Vidya Mandir Senior Secondary School for Boys here in the town, said on Monday that a team comprising Salil, Ankit Thakur and Arvind of the school was declared best in the science quiz in regional-level competitions of the Himachal Shiksha Samiti managed by the Saraswati Vidya Mandirs Science Fair which concluded recently. Ankit Garg was adjudged first in science paper reading contest and Ankit Sharma stood first in vedic ganit paper reading contest. Gaurav Sharma’s model of a fridge without use of any electricity was declared first. 

CHAMBA
One killed:
A person died on the spot and another jumped off a private pick-up van in which they were travelling when it went out of control and fell down from Rajeendu bridge into a140-m deep gorge near Sahoo on Monday night. According to a report, the deceased had been identified as Ajay Kumar (19), a resident of Draman in the Saach area of the district. The body was handed over to his kin after carrying out an autopsy. The police had registered a case of rash and negligent driving. The driver of the vehicle, who jumped off, sustained injuries but had a narrow escape.

NURPUR
Man held for wife’s suicide:
Jeevan Jyoti (28), wife of Balwinder Kumar of Bhanodu in Nagni gram panchayat, reportedly committed suicide by hanging herself from the roof on Monday. The deceased who had married six years back was mother of two kids. Milkhi Ram of Vahi Pathiar village, father of the deceased, complained that husband and sisters-in-law of her daughter had been harassing her. He also suspected murder of her daughter as she had injuries on her body and her clothes were having bloodstains. Following his complaint, the police had registered a case under Sections 498 (A), 306 and 34 of the IPC against Balwinder Kumar and his sisters and arrested him on Monday.

Suicide committed: Jyoti Devi (21), daughter of Chaman Lal of Kherian village, allegedly committed suicide by taking overdose of her medicine being taken for the past three years. According to the police, she was under depression and was taking drugs. She was rushed to the Civil Hospital here on Monday where she was declared dead. The matter was reported under Section 174 of the CrPC.

Sahil is union president
:Students of Government Gandhi Memorial Science College on Tuesday elected Sahil Choudhary as president. For the post of vice-president, Abhay Sharma was elected. Divya Partap Singh was elected general 
secretary. 

Power section inaugurated: Minister of State for Power Shabir Ahmad Khan on Monday inaugurated the administrative section of the Power Development Department here. Commissioner-cum-Secretary, General Administrative Department, Bashart Ahmad Dhar, Director, Estates, Khursheed Ahmad was present.

Supreme Council: The Central Committee of Panun Kashmir (PK) has evolved as a supreme council to make the organisational structure broadbased at the national and international levels. Dr Agnishekhar, PK convener said this here on Tuesday.
