The PCA authorities bowled a bouncer and a few hundred fans could do nothing but “stand up” and face it. The authorities had sold the seats for the pavilion terrace, which come at quite a premium, but people were not allowed to take their place. The reason: batsmen were finding it hard to see the ball coming out of the bowlers hand with a sea of people in the background. That only leaves one question to be answered — why were these seats sold in the first place?

There is no end to sufferings of those residing in colony no. 4, near industrial area, phase I, as the sewage continues to block the streets and enter houses, making their lives a  virtual hell.To top it all, a few families have raised the plinth of their houses, above the street-level and revamped their entrances thereby blocking the flow of sewage. The sewage, therefore, forces their entry into the low-lying houses, leaving the occupants with no alternative but to flush it out. Moreover, the stagnant sewage also pollutes the potable water supply to these houses.

2 killed as bus hits scooter

But the move apparently backfired.

Ex-judicial officer’s plea for benefits dismissed

The Punjab and Haryana High Court has ruled that the benefit of 10-year practice at the Bar would be admissible to judicial officers only on superannuation, but not if they are “retired in public interest”. The ruling came on a petition filed by retired Additional District and Sessions Judge Padam Kumar Jain against the State of Punjab and others.
