Batala, April 29
Four-year-old Shane Mash, who was not enrolled in Government Primary School, Jaadpur Sekhwan village (9 km from here) died under mysterious circumstances inside the school premises today.

Head teacher Surinder Singh said the minor was not a student of the school.

Parwinder Mash, father of the deceased and resident of Jaadpur Sekhwan village, said his son, who used to go with his brother Sonu, studying in class I, went to the school along with his sibling today.

According to the father, at about 9:00 am, Shane went to drink water from school’s submersible pump, where he fell down and died. It is alleged that the boy died due to electric shock.

Parwinder alleged that even the teachers of the school did not take any initiative to send his son to the Batala civil hospital for treatment and didn’t even inform him.

It was the students of the school who spread the news in the village after which the parents and villagers reached the school and took the boy to the civil hospital.

However, the doctors on duty said Shane had died two hours before.

The Rangar Nangal police, under whose jurisdiction the village falls, has filed a case under section 174 of the CrPC. More sections could be included after getting the postmortem report, the police said.

Jalandhar, April 29
The district police claims to have solved two blind murders with the arrest of two suspects for their alleged involvement in different cases.

Addressing mediapersons, SSP R.K. Jaiswal said that the Jagtaran Singh murder case came out to be a result of illicit relations of his wife with a boy almost half her age.

A resident of Kot Babadpur village was murdered by his friend in a steel unit along the Jalandhar-Jammu highway on Monday night. The deceased was later identified as Ashok Kumar.

The SSP said that Varinder Singh (22), alias Bhinda, alias Bhima, a resident of Mustabad, near Kapurthala, came in contact with Manjit Kaur (44), mother of three and wife of Jagtaran Singh, and developed illicit relations.

Manjit Kaur hatched a conspiracy with Varinder Singh to eliminate her husband.

Varinder Singh, along with his friend Ravinder, alias Nikky, a resident of Lakha-Ke-Paddey, killed Jagtaran Singh with daggers after they were allowed entry by Manjit Kaur on Saturday night. The police has arrested Varinder Singh in the case, while his accomplice has absconded.

In another murder case, the police has arrested Raju, hailing from Bihar, for allegedly killing his friend Ashok Kumar on Sunday night. The body of Ashok Kumar was found in a godown of Kundal Steel Company.

The SSP claimed that Raju was accompanying Ashok on Monday and committed the crime when the duo made a theft bid in an adjoining industrial unit. While attempting theft, Ashok collapsed on the roof of a godown and became unconscious.

Apprehending that Ashok would reveal the truth to the police after regaining conscious, Raju badly destroyed his face with a sharp-edged iron piece and threw him from the roof to the floor, leading to his death. The police has arrested Raju and a case of murder has been registered against him.
