The Chandigarh Administration has hit upon a novel idea to inculcate a sense of discipline among officials and councillors of the municipal corporation. In the backdrop of the spat between municipal commissioner Roshan Sunkaria and Congress councillor Devinder Singh Babla recently,the administration today asked the civic body to videograph the proceedings of all 14 committees, including the finance and contract committee(F&CC), of the corporation.

A delegation of the Chandigarh unit of the All-India Anti-Terrorist Front (AIATF) led by its president Rajesh Sharma today submitted a memorandum to UT Home Secretary Ram Niwas and demanded immediate implementation of the Ministry of Home Affair’s (MHA) guidelines on the use of protective gears.

5 booked for threat call

The police has registered a case on a complaint filed by Harpreet Kaur of Manimajra, alleging that Gurpreet Singh, Bharpur Singh, Gurinder Singh, Kulbir Singh and Jaswinder Singh threatened him on the phone. A case has been registered.

Two security guards robbed

Seven persons, including Amit, Honey and Rahul of Sector 25, Nitin of Sector-12 and three others allegedly robbed two security guards deputed at a mobile tower in Sector-25, yesterday. Om Parkash, a resident of Bilaspur, has in complaint lodged with the police alleged that the accused armed with sharp-edged weapons, stole his purse containing Rs 1,800 cash, two mobiles, clothes and nine batteries yesterday.

Dubai-based couple detained, let off

Under-19 cricket team announced
Chandigarh, December 22
The Cricket Federation of Chandigarh announced its 16-member under-19 cricket team for the upcoming all-India under-19 national championship to be held in Hyderabad (Andhra Pradesh) from January 12 to 15. According to federation president Ravinder Talwar, players must report to coach Nirpakash Singh at 11 am at Banyan Tree School, Sector 48, on December 25 along with their date of birth certificate in original.
