German Tourist Case
UT police submits chargesheet
Chandigarh, November 21
UT police today submitted the chargesheet in the German tourist rape case in the court of chief judicial magistrate (CJM), Kanchan Mahi. Charges have been framed against Manvir Singh Jolly, Pankaj Punia, Harpreet Singh Dalli, Sukhwinder Singh Sukhi and Sompal under offences of gang rape, fraudulently using genuine documents and making or possessing counterfeit seal.

Alchemist, doc to pay up Rs 15 lakh for laxity
Panchkula, November 21
In a landmark judgment, the Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum, Panchkula, has directed a city-based hospital and a doctor to defray compensation of Rs 15 lakh, apart from Rs 5,000 as litigation charges, to the complainant for being “casual in handling the case” which resulted in the death of a newborn.

Tricity to have affordable non-AC taxis

UT: Refund surrendered plots’ money to allottees
Chandigarh, November 21
In a decision affecting thousands of city residents, UT chief administrator Sanjay Kumar, has directed the estate office to refund money of surrendered plots to allottees on the grounds of Rule 12(3) of the Chandigarh Leasehold of Sites and Building Rules. With the implementation of this order the administration will have to return the money to the tune of lakhs to the allottees.

Students, employee reach  compromise

Two days after the alleged assault by two students on a non-teaching employee of the Panjab University, both the parties today reached a compromise. In a meeting comprising the top brass of the univeristy and even the representatives of the computer sciences department that lasted for over three hours today, both the students apologised to the employee.
