Tense over the death of his unborn child and the atrocities meted out to his wife, a farmer from village Rajewal Rajputan committed suicide. Arvinder Singh, a farmer from the village committed suicide on Sunday after his pregnant wife was beaten up by his parents.

Public display of a revolver by the newly appointed naib tehsildar in contravention of the service rules caused scare among the visitors in Transport Nagar here today. Naib tehsildar-cum-executive magistrate (first class) Jagseer Singh, who took charge of the office only yesterday, created an atmosphere of fear in the office that receives a large number of people everyday.

Dr Sofat remanded to police custody

Pachauri with the "Sat Paul Mittal National Award" during a function to celebrate the 119th birth anniversary of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru here today. Dr Pachauri was conferred the award by Bihar Governor R.L. Bhatia who was the chief guest on the occasion.

Mystery shrouds the death of Gurpal Singh (20) of Jandali Kalan village in Sangrur district whose body was found lying on a railway track near Jagera road last evening. The civic body, led by sarpanch Navdeep Kaur, has demanded a probe into the sequence of events leading to Gurpal’s death.

Indian kabaddi team beat Pakistan’s kabaddi team in the third match of the Kabaddi League that was held at Mangat Varyam Stadium, Kubbe village, near here, by 51-27. Sukhbir Singh Badal, who was the chief guest, was introduced with the players of both the teams and watched the match with great enthusiasm.
