City lawyer attends Brazil conference

Over 500 lawyers, academics and judges from about 40 countries attended the 73rd biennial conference of the International Law Association at Rio De Janeiro. The conference was held on its 130 years of dedication to international law. The theme of the conference was to shape the future of international law.

Christian, Sikh bodies hold protest rally
Chandigarh, September 1
Citing the ‘saffron squad’ as perpetrators of violence, the representatives of the Christian and Sikh communities of Chandigarh and Punjab today held a peaceful protest rally at the roundabout of Sector 16-17-22-23. The rally was held to protest against mob attacks on Christians in Orissa. The president of the Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar) Simranjit Singh Mann led the Sikh group while Paster Randeep Mathews from Sector 24 COC Church led the Christian group.

Death in Rehri Market

About 50 persons blocked the newly-built road leading from Vikas Nagar towards railway station to lodge protest against the alleged callousness over the Sector 46 rehri market incident. One person, Sushil Kumar, died while other five were injured when a big tree fell over the booth in the market.
