Tribune lensman Vicky Gharu was assaulted by an unidentified person near the apni mandi in Phase VIII this evening. The accused, driving a maroon Ford Fiesta car (PB11 F 6103), attacked Gharu without any provocation, snatching his camera and hitting him on the head with the camera. The camera was shattered in the process. The attacker who was apparently drunk took a part of the camera and sped away.

2 fresh cholera cases in city

Cholera seems to be spreading to some new areas of the city as two fresh cases were reported today from Maloya and Sector 40.

Breakthrough in cervical disc replacement

Sunita Devi, a young female from Kurushetra, suffered from excruciating neck-pain that extended to her left arm, crippling her day-today functioning. Recently, she underwent a spine surgery for the same in the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Sector 32 Chandigarh.

3 held for stealing medicines
Zirakpur, July 27
The Zirakpur police today arrested three persons, including a woman, on charges of stealing medicines. The accused Seema Sharma, a resident of Kurukshetra and her two accomplices, Kamal Kumar of Panchkula and Jasvir Singh of Pinjore, were arrested with medicines worth Rs 3 lakh and two cars which were used to smuggle the stolen medicines. According to the police, the two would steal the medicines and hand these over to Seema Sharma, who would then supply these to shops in Agra. The three would be presented in the court tomorrow.

Youth hurt in Sector 8 clash
Chandigarh, July 27
Gagandeep Singh, a resident of Nayagaon, was injured in a clash that took place in the market of Sector 8 here last night. The incident occurred when Gagan was standing with his friends. A group of 10 armed youngsters came and thrashed Gagan. Gagan sustained injuries and was rushed to Multi-Specialty Hospital, Sector 16.

Even as the police arrested three members of a gang of snatchers last week, snatchings continued unabated in the city with two incidents being reported from various parts of the city.
