To streamline the admission process in colleges affiliated to Panjab University, Chandigarh, the varsity has decided not to declare any “Results Late” this time. It means the results of all students of the same class will be announced on the same day.

Suicide: Fiancee, parents booked
Ludhiana, June 23
Over five months after a youth of Field Gunj here committed suicide allegedly, the police today booked four members of a family. The youth ended his life after the family of his fiancee refused the marriage a few days before the scheduled date.

90 kg poppy husk seized
Khanna, June 23
The Khanna police has arrested three persons from different places and seized 90 kilograms of poppy husk from their possession. The police has also impounded a motorcycle and a Lancer car used for carrying the poppy husk.

Industry looks towards automation now
Ludhiana, June 23
With the efforts to woo labourers failing to yield results, local industry is now making heavy investments towards automation to deal with the labour shortage in the long run.

Consumers resent hike in cable rates
Ludhiana, June 23
The National Consumer Awareness Group has expressed resentment against the hike in cable charges. "Cable operators have increased the rates and that is causing harassment to customers. The government needs to take action against them,” said M P Singh Gogia, president of the group.

Liquor bottles looted
Khanna, June 23
Some unidentified people looted liquor bottles from a liquor vend in a village near Samrala. In a complaint to the police, Inderjit Singh, a worker at the liquor vend, alleged that some unidentified people, in an inebriated condition, took away eight bottles of liquor of various brands, three beers, damaged liquor vend, threatened and slapped him.

Punjab record second win

Continuing with their fine performance, hosts, Punjab, drubbed Tamil Nadu by 67 runs to register second win in a row on the second day of the first Senior National 20 Cricket Tournament being played on the Punjab Agricultural University campus grounds here today. Sixteen teams are taking part in this four-day tournament.
