Truck goes missing from CIA custody
Kharar, June 23 The CIA put up a checkpoint near Balongi at around 2.30 am and confiscated a truck illegally carrying 1,610 bottles of whisky. Driver of the truck Jarnail Singh, a resident of Lohar village in Jalandhar, was also arrested. He was booked under various Sections of the Excise Act. As per the sources, the truck was brought to the CIA quarters in Kharar and whisky bottles were unloaded from it. However, at around 4.30 am, the truck was found missing. Highly placed sources said after the truck was unloaded, one person accompanying driver Jarnail Singh offered to park it at a right place. Instead of parking it, he fled with the truck. However, CIA in charge Satnam Singh said the officials found that the truck was missing only at around 4.30 am. He suspected that the owner of truck had played this trick upon the police. The police has booked the owners of truck, Billa and Mintu of Sector 42, Chandigarh, who deal in liquor. The sources said the excise department was to penalise Billa and Mintu heavily for carrying whisky illegally. And due to fear of this fine, they tricked cops and managed to pull out the truck right from under the CIA’s nose. Meanwhile, Mohali SSP Jatinder Singh Aulakh said SP (detective) Kamaldeep Singh had been entrusted with the responsibility to inquire into the matter and find out the lapse on the part of the official concerned. The departmental action would be taken against the erring official, the SSP said. |

Chandigarh, June 23 Dr Bansal, who was speaking during a special camp organised by Brain and Spine Centre at Sangam Hospital, said postural defects and sudden injury or jerk in spine might cause disturbance in the flexile column of bones called vertebrae that supported body from skull to pelvis. Moderate rest, applying warm and hot compresses, precautions while sleeping or lifting heavy things were some measures which could be effective. Muscle relaxing and anti-inflammatory drugs on prescription could be effective in the extreme cases but prevention was always the best, advised Dr Bansal. Using hard bed with thin pillow, careful sideways rising up from lying posture, keeping knees higher than hips while sitting, car seat with lumber lordosis support and postural proprieties like keeping straight back while sitting and changing positions frequently while performing daily chores were some tips which must essentially be followed. As many as 210 patients underwent check-up at the camp.
