The municipal corporation of Chandigarh (MCC) has ignored the mayor yet again. In fact, in a development that may widen the rift between the commissioner and the mayor, the MCC officials have allegedly not taken the mayor into "confidence" while finalising the inauguration of the garbage processing plant at Dadu Majra here.

Dept to review notification, delimitation of MC wards
Zirakpur, May 19
In a controversial move, the department of local bodies, Punjab, has decided to review the final notification of delimitation of the municipal council wards, barely a month before elections are due for the civic body in the township. The delimitation of wards of the area within the MC limits was notified on March 19 after inviting objections from the public. Following this, the entire process of preparation of voters list as laid down by the Punjab State Election Commission has also been completed.

The police chased a truck loaded with cattle for over an hour and fired gunshots to burst its tyres to stop it late last night. Though truck driver fled the scene, the police has impounded the truck and rescued 15 cattle. Two of the cattle died during the chase.
