MC gives ‘raw deal’ to mayor

The municipal corporation of Chandigarh (MCC) has ignored the mayor yet again. In fact, in a development that may widen the rift between the commissioner and the mayor, the MCC officials have allegedly not taken the mayor into "confidence" while finalising the inauguration of the garbage processing plant at Dadu Majra here.
Cool breeze, mild sun bring relief

Ravinder takes over as council chief

Ravinder Rawal and B.B. Singhal formally took over as the president and vice-president, respectively, of the Panchkula municipal council here today. BJP councillors along with Singhal left the municipal committee office before Rawal reached his office with deputy chief minister Chander Mohan.

Fear of law seems to be the last thing on the minds of these youngsters as they were drinking openly at Leisure Valley in Sector 10 on Monday afternoon. The Tribune lens man Vinay Malik captured the moments and almost invited the wrath of seven unruly youths. Malik called the police. However, before the police could reach there, four of the youngsters fled, leaving their friends and bottles behind. The arrested were identified as Anuj, a student of DAV College; Rajesh and Rohit, residents of Sector 7. They were booked under Sections 61/14/1 of the Excise Act. |
