Hit-and-run accident victim needs help

Darbara Singh, a resident of New Subhash Nagar in Basti Jodhewal locality here, met with a road accident in which he sustained fractures in both legs and a head injury in early March this year. As the offending driver of the vehicle managed to escape without paying heed to the victim, he was taken to Christian Medical College and Hospital (CMCH) by the area residents for treatment.

Ludhiana, May 16A peacock sanctuary has been opened in 10 acres at PAU in Ludhiana.
A peacock sanctuary has been opened in 10 acres at Punjab Agricultural University here. About 30 peacocks are being bred in the protected green belt. “This is the part of 16 acres of the department of landscaping and floriculture at the university. We are taking steps to preserve the National Bird in the natural environment. Special care is being taken so that these peacocks, whose number has increased to 30 during the past few months, are not disturbed and threatened”, Dr Ramesh Kumar Sadavarti, head, department of landscaping and floriculture, PAU, said. — TNS
