The MC has failed to ensure proper disposal of dry leaves, and this is causing environment concerns. Heaps of dry leaves can be seen being burnt openly or left to rot across the city. A random survey by the Tribune team revealed that in southern sectors traces of burnt dry leaves are a common sight.

On Day 1 of fire safety week, office gutted

The office of a private software company in Sector 34 here was reduced to ashes after a fire broke out in a portion of the building this morning. The fire department said no one was injured and the loss was yet to be ascertained as the owner of the company was out of station.

As wheat harvesting picks up momentum in Punjab and Haryana, the temperatures in the region have begun to soar leading to tripping of power supply in several cities and towns of the two state. Hisar in Haryana was the hottest place in the northwest with maximum temperatures touching 40 °C today.

Hooda announces Rs 21 lakh grant
Panchkula, April 14
Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda today said around 11,000 sweepers were being recruited in the state and will be deputed in the villages, while a package of Rs 280 crore was being implemented so that children from Scheduled Caste families could get education.
