Beggar lay dead on footpath for over 17 hours
Ludhiana, January 3
A beggar lay dead for more than 17 hours on a footpath near the MC office. Another beggar was on the verge of dying, but nobody came to his rescue. Sukhdev Nagar residents rue poor amenities

Residents of Sukhdev Nagar on Bhammian Road are up in arms against the local authorities for not providing them with civic amenities in spite of their persistent requests for the past two years.

Workers of the Punjab Roadways Depot protested against the government’s failure to fulfil their outstanding demands here today.

Students hold march on road safety
Jagraon, January 3
Around 200 students from various schools took part in a march on the third day of the road safety weak today. SP (D) Pritam Singh flagged off the march. The students carried banners and placards bearing messages on traffic rules. Earlier, the SP educated students on underage driving, driving under the influence of alcohol and following traffic rules.

2 youths killed
Kharar (Ropar) January 3
Two youths from Ropar were killed while two others injured seriously in an accident on Chandigarh-Ropar national highway near Mundi Kharar village on Wednesday. Those killed have been identified as Prince and Rukwinder Singh.

PAU focus on disease-free kinnow
