Power Tariff Hike
CM rules out immediate implementation
Ferozepur, November 3
Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal today ruled out immediate implementation of the hiked tariff of electricity rates in urban areas which is already being opposed by its coalition partner in the state, the BJP.

Lays substation stone
Nawanshahr, November 3
Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal laid the foundation stone of a 66 kv substation at Bhaddi village, about 30 km from here today to be built at a cost of Rs 2.50 crore. It would cater to the power needs of 31 villages around Bhaddi and in Kandi area. The substations situated at Balachaur, Karawar and Kathgarh would be deloaded after commissioning of the Bhaddi substation.

Blames Cong govt for ’84 riots

The 1984 anti-Sikh riots were abetted by none other than the Congress-led government at the Centre at that time, said Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal while addressing a function of riots victims here today.

Bhakra’s left bank house to generate more power
Chandigarh, November 3
The left bank powerhouse of the Bhakra will soon have an additional generation capacity of 90 MW. This additional generation will follow changing of the major parts of the turbines and generators in each of the five generator units of the left bank.

Ruling that the state of Punjab had expanded the scope for admission of needy children simply to accommodate the children of certain officials seeking admission to engineering colleges, the Punjab and Haryana High Court has ordered the deletion of “two offensive categories” from its revised nomination policy.
