Congress decimated in Patiala

The SAD-BJP combine swept to power in the elections to the Patiala Municipal Corporation held here today.Out
of 50 seats, the ruling alliance bagged 42. The Congress got just four
seats. The other four were bagged by Independents, three of them Akali
rebels.

Poll violence: 7 cases registered
Patiala August 8
The police has registered seven cases of violence during the municipal corporation poll conducted today. Unauthorised persons scaled the boundary of a polling station in Wards 49 and 46.

Pregnant voters hit as rigging rules
Patiala, August 8
The MC election was marred with allegations of pregnant women being hit, policemen acting as the private army of the ruling party, presiding officers helping voting in favour of SAD candidates and voters being attacked with sharp-edged weapons even as election observers remained absent.

Cong withdraws, wants re-election
