Dimpa is in judicial remand in connection with the murder of an Akali worker on the eve of Assembly elections in Beas.

A deputation of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) activists submitted a memorandum to the deputy commissioner here today alleging that Karamjit Singh, alias Bablu, and Gurmit Singh, son and husband, respectively, of Mohinder Kaur Josh, chief parliamentary secretary (CPS), Punjab, along with her security personnel and some unknown persons demolished the house of a Dalit woman, Chhindo, widow of Udho Ram, and beat her up and her son for taking possession of her house and a plot in the Central Town area here on June 11.

Some forces were trying to repeat what had happened in 1984. This was stated by the jathedar of Takht Damdama Sahib, Giani Balwant Singh Nandgarh, at the release of a book, “Indo-Punjab battle June 1984”, compiled and published by the Dal Khalsa, at Guru Teg Bahadur Nagar Gurdwara here today. The book contains the details of the 207 Sikhs killed while fighting the Army during Operation Bluestar.
