APHC not to force Centre
for separate dialogue
Jammu, June 15 Senior APHC leader Abdul Gani Bhat said the “the role of relevant political forum is imaginatively vital for ensuring stability, security and peace in the entire South Asian region.” Prof. Bhat said there was need for drawing a line between the “ masters and the surrogates” so that Delhi and Islamabad hold parleys with the relevant political forum. He stated that India and Pakistan “cannot carry the dialogue process in isolation. Both of them have to take us into confidence because we represent the aspirations of people of Kashmir.” The APHC leader explained that in the interest of the survival of the entire South Asian region we would have to address the issues with courage, wisdom and sincerity.”Our political forum, if involved in talks could rid India and Pakistan of sentimentalism bordering insanity as far as the Kashmir issue is concerned,” he added. The Union home secretary had reiterated that Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s stand on the issue by saying that the Government of India had invited the separatists for the round table conferences to which they had not responded adding that it was their wish to respond or reject the invitation. In fact,he obliquely ruled out the possibility of having a separate dialogue with separatists. The APHC leadership is of the view that the dialogue process between the surrogates, leaders of mainstream political parties, and the Central Government had been going on for the past more than three decades without yielding any results. As such it had become mandatory for the Government of India to involve the separatists in the dialogue process so that a solution to the vexed Kashmir issue was hammered out. |
