Shobha yatras for man or God?
Ram Navmi is here. Continuing the past practice this year also, to commemorate the occasion, two shobha yatras are being taken out in Jalandhar. One of these is being taken out from the Devi Talab Temple on March26 and the other from the Company Bagh on March 27.

Stray cattle cause accidents
At least five persons die in accidents between Transport Nagar and Bhagat Singh Colony chowks on the Delhi -Amritsar National Highway (number one ) in a month. This half- kilomtere stretch within the municipal limitsof Jalandhar has witnessed fatal collisions.

Move to gather facts on Bhagat Singh’s comrades
On this day when we remember Bhagat Singh, we tend to forget his colleagues and comrades who equally participated in the freedom struggle. There have been several researches and studies on the life of the legendary martyr but it is hard to find any on 300 other members of the Naujawan Bharat Sabha led by Bhagat Singh himself.

Cancer patient needs help
Deepika Sharma (28) is suffering from acute mylogenous leukaemia. Resident of Deep Nagar in Jalandhar Cantonment, she has undergone a prolonged treatment at Patel Hospital after which there were superficial signs of recovery. Deepika along with her husband J.D. Sharma, did manage funds from their company GNA Duraparts for the first treatment, but the couple faces yet another challenge.

Punyaa bags Camelin award
Little Punyaa's gifted imagination and ability to make artistic strokes have helped her in winning a prize in the Camelin Colour Contest. Declared second among hundreds of participants of her age from various schools of Punjab, it was a moment of pride for her to receive a cash prize and a certificate from Nek Chand at Punjab Kala Bhavan in Chandigarh this Tuesday. A class III student at Apeejay School, Model Town, Punyaa had participated in the contest in October 2006 while she was studying in class II.

Begging on rise
Bansalwala Bazar in Phagwara has become a hub of dozen beggars, most of them women. In fact, most public places in the city like shopping plazas, railway station, bus stand and crossing areas have lots of beggars. A handful of them are may be physically challenged, but most of them are in good health.

ITI emerge victorious
The students of Mehr Chand Industrial Training Institute today won a sports and cultural meet of Jalandhar and Kapurthala zone organised by the Department of Technical Education and Industrial Training at Red Cross Bhavan here today.
