While a hailstorm has caused heavy damage to the wheat crop in 22 villages in
Nabha subdivision, chilly weather conditions continue in the region because of
snow in the upper reaches of Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir during the
past 24 hours.

Attack on Christians: Mann for action against culprits

Founder of SAD (Amritsar) Simranjit Singh Mann, while alleging that the minorities have come under severe attack from Hindu fundamentalists after the formation of the SAD-BJP alliance government in Punjab, today demanded that legal action should be taken against those who were allegedly involved in the attack made on members of the Christian community at two places in Bathinda district in the past two days.
Plea to enact law against conversions

Makhan Singh 'Fariad' finished his mission of pedalling through all districts of Punjab today highlighting societal
concerns against foeticide and dowry deaths in the state. He cycled
through bye-lanes of 3688 villages of the state talking on AIDS and female
literacy. 'Fariad' started his journey on March 6, 2006 from Ajnala covering the
length and breath of the state. He is inspired by Abdul Gad, a resident of
Andhra Pradesh, who has undertaken several big journeys spreading AIDS awareness
on his bicycle.
