Ministers complain to CM about officials’ indifference Chandigarh, January 12 The attitude has spread to the districts also as complaints made by two Cabinet Ministers of Haryana show. Capt Ajay Singh Yadav, Revenue and Irrigation Minister, and Mr Phool Chand Mullana, Education Minister, have made separate complaints to the Chief Minister about district officials not turning up at the meetings of the District Grievance Committee chaired by the Ministers. While Mr Mullana is heading the Grievance Committees of Hisar and Rohtak districts, Captain Yadav is in charge of such committees in Sonepat, Mewat and Jhajjar. While Captain Yadav and Mr Mullana had made formal complaints against the indifference of the district officials, the experience of other ministers on this front , too, is likely to be much the same. As for the fallout of the complaints, there was only a mild reprimand from the Chief Secretary in the nature of a general letter issued to the heads of departments, Divisional Commissioners, Deputy Commissioners and SDOs (Civil). The Chief Secretary’s letter mentioned the instructions given earlier relating to the reception of the Chief Minister and other members of the Council of Ministers, the Speaker and the Deputy Speaker of the Assembly when they were on tour in the state. “It has been brought to the notice of the government that these instructions are not being followed strictly by some of the district-level officers of certain departments. It is emphasised once again that the instructions may be followed by all officials concerned in letter and in spirit”, the communication said. |
