Rainfall: Weather was mainly dry over the region.

Temperature: Past 24 hours change: The minimum temperatures rose in Haryana, Punjab, west Rajasthan, west Uttar Pradesh and Uttaranchal and changed little elsewhere.

Departure: They were appreciably above normal in west Rajasthan, above normal in Haryana, east Rajasthan, west Uttar Pradesh and Uttaranchal and normal in the rest of the region. The lowest temperature in the plains was 03.4C recorded at Amritsar (Punjab).

Forecast valid until the morning of December 22 2006: Rain/snow is likely at a few places in Jammu and Kashmir and at isolated places in Himachal Pradesh and Uttaranchal. Rain/thundershowers are likely at isolated places in north Haryana, Punjab and north Rajasthan. Weather will be mainly dry in the rest of the region.

Outlook for the subsequent two days: Weather will be mainly dry. Forecast for Delhi and neighbourhood valid until the morning of December 22 2006: Partly cloudy sky. Mist/fog in the morning. The minimum temperature will be around 11C.
